Therapy for OCD
OCD keeps you stuck in a world of doubt.
If you have OCD, you might go back and forth between feeling like other people are in denial about the terrible things that can happen in life, and feeling angry with yourself for not being able to stop spiraling. You want to believe that your doubts are not real, but when someone tells you that you have nothing to worry about, you don’t believe it. Even if you think that what you are afraid of is unlikely, you get pulled back into OCD because unlikely is not the same thing as impossible, and the stakes seem too high to you.
I offer safe and effective treatment for OCD.
The treatment approach that I use in my practice, Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD, helps you learn that you don’t have to disprove your doubts or yield to your compulsions. Many people find that their OCD symptoms lessen early on in treatment as they begin to understand why they have been getting stuck.
Therapy helps you learn to trust yourself again.
In therapy, you build and strengthen your ability to distinguish between real world problems that deserve your time and attention, and OCD created problems that don’t need to be (and can’t be) solved because they are based on a believable, but false story. Once you feel confident that you can tell the difference between these two kinds of problems, you won’t feel the need to seek reassurance or do compulsions. You deserve to have peace in your life.
